The secret of success is to do the common things uncommonly well. The successful people don't have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything. It would not be wrong to say that this year was one of the best for the members of the Gold House as we won the
prestigious 'Cock House Shield' after five, long awaited years and the 'Marching Shield' as well.
In the beginning of the year under the guidance of Mr. Owen Wright, our housemaster, Pratham Mehra was appointed as the Gold House captain and Prateek Keswani, as the vice captain.
In the Inter House Football tournament We didn't do too well and managed to get third place. It all started with the Inter House Aquatics Competition. In the juniors Yash Raj, and Prateek Keswani in the seniors, helped the Gold House to emerge as the Runner's up. In the Inter House
Chess Competition, we didn't have the best of players but still with some tricky moves we managed to attain the third position. In Badminton our juniors did very well and we came first. Our table tennis team players put up some exuberant performances and we were declared the winners. The table tennis team included Shashank Singhal, S.K. Rajan, Varun Kaushal and Ujjawal Mehrotra. Next came the Inter House Basketball tournament. We defeated the strong teams of Green and Red House but lost to Blue House but still we were declared joint winners. The last event was the Inter House Cricket tournament. It was the crucial event of our Cock House chances and we had to win the tournament to win 'The Cock House'. With a strong team, we defeated Blue house and Green house but lost to Red house by a small margin. Gold, Red and Blue all had the same points. The result was decided on the run rate basis. We were quite ahead of Red House but were just one run behind Blue House and so we were the 'Runner's Up'.
The dream of winning 'The Cock House' seemed to be over but the best was yet to come. In Marching our Smart soldiers put their 'best foot forward' and helped us to emerge as winners'. We won the 'Marching shield' for a fourth consecutive year. All depended on the Athletics and our boys put up extraordinary performances and we were the runners up. Chakradhar Pandey of Gold House broke the old Shot Put record. On the sports day we won the 'Cock House' in the dying moments. In the PT. display we were second. We were the runners up for the discipline shield as well. Mohd. Farooq won the 'B' division championship. Besides all this we also won the award for the "Best House Board" under the able guidance of Mrs. M. Francis.
It is said "Slow and steady wins the race" and so against 'all odds' we fought an up hill battle. The path to success was never easy and I am proud to have been the captain of the ship which had some devoted and dedicated passengers.

With the swords out of their sheaths, the helmets and armors already worn, the shields all
Ready, the lives of the soldiers put on stake; we were standing in the battlefield with our opponents in front of us, waiting for only one word 'ATTACK!"
The academic session 2007 -2008 helped the Red House boys to prove their metal.
We may not have fared well in the past but this year we put in all our effort to gain fruitful results. Under the able guidance of Mr. L. Ducasse, Red House performed really well.
It all started with the Inter-House Football tournament in which after a long span of Five years we defeated our opponents one by one in the seniors. This really helped us realize our capabilities. Next we had the Inter-House swimming competition in which Aviral Tiwari and Siddhartha Bhargava (Red House Captain) made commendable efforts and placed our house in third place. Then came the chess-tournament in which we applied our full strategy and our juniors made it to the top which placed our house at second position overall. In table tennis the juniors' effort helped us reach the third place. In cricket our players performed really well and we won two out of three matches but we fell short of only 2 runs and had to be content with the third place as the results were decided on the basis of run rate.
Then came the judgment day, that is the annual sports. In Tug-O-War we reached the finals after four long years and the efforts made by Varun Singh helped us win the 'Tug-O-War Shield'. We also had a chance of winning the Marching Shield but unfortunately we lost only by one point. In Athletics, Anadi Upadhyay made us proud by winning the 'B' division championship and also the cup for fast cycle race.
While all this was going on, Siddhartha Bhargava and Rupam Sengupta (Red house squad leader) were maintaining the discipline which also made us the winners of the 'Discipline Shield'. The day ended with our house winning the maximum number of shields.
Special thanks to Parikshit Singh (Red house Vice Captain), Rasika I Barla, Zuber Ullah, Shivesh Shukla, Yash Tandon, Anuj Vikram Singh.
This academic session 2007-2008 has helped us realize that we have the potential what we lack is I, coordination, that we have the energy what we lack is commitment, that we have the power what we lack is the stamina. In order to win we have to make all that we lack-our strength and Cock House Shield our aim because i, we are fed up of being called 'faithful till the end'.

“Don’t walk as if you rule the world, walk like you don’t care who rules” That is called attitude. So we the members of the Green House started the year with this attitude as Pragya Bhatt from our House secured 96.2% marks in the ICSE examinations 2007. Following his example, we were all determined to do well not only in academics, but also in extra curricular activities and we have succeeded in this to quite a certain extent.
The year began with the Inter House Football tournament in which we came second
with the help of the attacking game showed by our House Captain Gorky Sinha and some good defending by Nazim Hooda and Such it Sonkar controlling the mid-field with Siddharth Singh in the goal post. Then came the Aquatics tournament in which we emerged champions in juniors as well as in senior category. In line, next was the Chess tournament in which our grandmasters led by Aritro Basu came first. In the Badminton tournament we tried our level best but had to be content with the second position. In the Table Tennis tournament Pragya Bhatt helped us to bag the first position. Next was the Inter House Basket Ball tournament in which Siddharth Singh, Suchit Sonkar and Asif Ali with their majestic ball play led us to the first position. We could not do well in cricket, though we tried our level best. Apart from Gorky Sinha none of the other players could rise to the occasion. As a whole we had to be satisfied with the third position, in the athletics. Gorky Sinha and Salman Siddiqui of our house won the 'O' division and 'A' division championship respectively. Nazim Hooda won the fast cycling event and therefore he also bagged the of 'Atlas Fast Cycling Trophy 2008'.
At this juncture I would like to thank my Vice Captain Ankit Anthony for all his help and cooperation which I received all through the year. I am also grateful to Such it Sonkar, Nazim Hooda, Anmol Chowdhary, Siddharth Singh and to all the boys of the Green House who have worked hard all through the year to bring glory to our house.
In the end I would .like to conclude by saying that the Green house boys are deeply indebted to our House Master Mr. A. McGowan for his inspirational leadership and cooperation all through the year. Under his able guidance we have touched the skies of glory. I sincerely wish that the Green House continues to e flourish in future as well.

“The spirit of conquer the stars, the spirit to move the mountains, the spirit behind a mission to excel”. These lines aptly describe the performance of the Blue House during the academic year 2007 -2008. Under the dynamic leadership of Vivek Tripathi, the Blue House captain leading from the front assisted by Rishi Soni and the able guidance of Mr. A. Simon, we achieved many milestones this year.
To begin with the sporting activities, the Inter House Football tournament in which Vivek Tripathi and his boys astonished everyone by their game and emerged as the deserving champions. This was followed by the Inter House Table Tennis tournament in which our performance was not up to the mark, but Abhijit Parolia and Akarsh Agarwal were applauded by one and all. Mayukh Dhar and Rishi Gupta by their skills grabbed the first place in the Inter House Badminton. In the Inter House cricket tournament, we emerged as champions and Shikhar Suri and Mohit Mishra of our house were adjudged as the best batsmen and best bowler respectively in the whole tournament. In the Inter House Basket Ball tournament, we managed to secure the runners up shield.
In athletics also we brought laurels to our house by winning the most coveted and prestigious Athletic shield. Vivek Tripathi, Amit Singh, Nabeel Ahmad, Md. Zeeshan did extremely well in athletics. Records are meant to be broken. Vivek Tripathi, Blue House captain proved this by completing the 1,500 meters race in just 5 minutes and 5 seconds, breaking the previous record of 5 minutes and 27 seconds, which was set I in the year 1968. He has also broken the record in the cross country race with the timing of 18 minutes and 18 seconds. Vivek Tripathi also clinched the 'a' division individual championship. In the Tug-a-war we reached the finals but our strong pullers were not able to match up to the opponents and we came second. Adding another feather to his achievements, Vivek Tripathi was also adjudged as the Best Sportsman of the year 2007-2008.
We are extremely thankful to our house Master Mr. A. Simon who like a Good Shepherd led the house to glorious moments of victory. At this juncture I would also like to thank my Vice Captain Rishi Soni and each and every member of the Blue House for their dedication and co-operation. I hope that the members of the Blue House continue to be the champions in the coming years also.
Vivek Tripathi,
House Capitan |
