Alumni

On 15th of November 2008 the St. Joseph's College alumni Congregated yet again on the sprawling campus of their alma mater to have a conscious experience of the yesteryears, carefully embedded in their heart.

It was really a memorable evening for a record 100 plus crowd of St. Joseph's College alumni and their better halves as they sang and clapped, reflected and reminisced about those glorious years in their alma mater. The occasion was the Annual Reunion of the SJC Old Boys Association held here at the old Library Hall and in the front courtyard of the institution. The entire environment and ethos had magic about it.

What followed was an evening of music and nostalgia .... with spontaneity and bonhomie not just amongst the alumni, but even their spouses. Three melodious old numbers by Vivek Mathur, Mrs. Manju Narain and Vivek Singh set the tone and spirit, with the jam-packed audience cheering and clapping along followed by a series of entertaining vocal performances by alumni cutting across generations such as Onkar Nath Khanna, Jyoti Dubey, etc.

Illustrious alumni Hon'ble Mr. Justice R.D. Khare of Allahabad High Court and Mr. Ashim Kumar, Commissioner, Income Tax were one of the prominent participants.

What, however, made the evening so special this year was the Antakshari Competition between the ex-Josephites (called Rev. Father K.K. Anthony's team consisting of Sanjiv Singh, Shyamal Narain etc.) and their wives (called Rev. Father Louis Mascarenhas's team consisting of Indrani Banerji, Divya Goswami, Aradhana Kapoor, etc.), regaled the audience. The Antakshari Competition was anchored by Mrs. & Mr. Sanjay Khanduja.

The meet was organized by President Col. Gurmeet Singh, Secretary, OBA Hon'ble Mr. Justice Vikram Nath, Joint Secretary Sanjiv Singh and Treasurer C.K. Pathak. Jayont Banerji compered the meet which was followed by a sumptuous dinner. I would fail in my duty if I don't make a special reference to the initiative and inspiration of the present Principal Rev. Father Louis Mascarenhas in sustaining the spirit and exuberance thereof.
