POST CENTENARY SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS – DAY 2

On the second day of the Post Centenary Silver Jubilee celebrations of St. Joseph’s College, on Thursday, 8th October 2009, the children from the Middle School entertained the spectators and exhibited their talents through the stage show by performing dances, ballets, group songs, skits and digital presentations.

After the fabulous curtain raiser, the boys created a prayerful atmosphere by invoking the Divine and sought blessings on the show. Most Rev. Isidore Fernandes, the Bishop of Allahabad in his inaugural address congratulated the Josephites and prayed for the SJC family. Fr. Louis Mascarenhas, the principal welcomed the distinguished guests and the parents of the Middle school boys and then highlighted the efforts and sacrifices made by all the mentors of this institution. The SJC choir then presented the theme song of the Post Centenary Silver Jubilee which was followed by the Digital presentation by Aman Khetrapal and team.

Prof. R.G. Harshe in his message said “I feel moved by the compassion of Jesus. We need to be compassionate and forgiving like him if we want to build the society.” He distributed the prizes to the meritorious students of SJC. Prof. Pankaj Chandra, Director of IIM, Bangalore opined that “SJC is a place which teaches you to be your own. One who is educated here can face the world boldly”.

Through the ballet the students of classes 7 urged that "Healing the World" is the need of the hour when the whole world is torn between love and hatred, and violence and peace. Thereafter, a perfect blend of literary style was depicted through the choral recitation of 'Cataract of Lodore.' The delightful cadences, the vitality of metre and rhyme and the throbbing pulsing, pounding energy of a cataract was heard in the voices of the Class 7 children whose youthful spirit captured and mirrored the cataract. The Thematic Dance 'Harmony in Hell' challenged the viewers to enliven their humanity and moral values and to regain our lost independence, faith and innocence.
The thrill, suspense and fright left the audience spellbound and earned a big ovation. The Hindi play 'Yahi hai samai' by the students of class 6 aimed to rekindle in our hearts love and concern for one another so that mankind can flourish and our planet can be saved. Love goes beyond feelings, it's the intangible balm of every malaise. It reflects godliness. And therefore, the Choir from Class 6 invited the spectators to 'Give a little love.' "Master minder Boomeranger" the English One Act Play creating thrill, suspense and pathos highlighted on the eroding moral values of today's youth. The boys of Class 7 mesmerized the audience and enthralled them through their group dance “The Glorious Reign of Emperor Akbar.” They also recreated and recalled the glorious age of Emperor Akbar and rekindled in their hearts the many facets of love that his reign exemplified.

Earlier the chief guest Prof. R.G. Harshe, the Guest of honour Prof. Pankaj Chandra and other distinguished guests were welcomed with flowers by the principal. Devarshi Mani the College Head Prefect proposed vote of thanks. The program was anchored by Raghuvansh Mishra, Shantanu Jain and Karthik Asthana.
