POST CENTENARY SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS – DAY 1

"Being in this institution you must leaern the power of loving and healing, which is the dire need of the world today," said Hon’ble Ms. Justice Bharati Sapru of Allahabad High Court at the SJC Auditorium addressing the august gathering during the first day of the Post Centenary Silver Jubilee celebrations held at St. Joseph’s College on the evening of 7th October 2009.

The day’s programme was splendidly managed entirely by the junior section under the supervision of Rev. Fr. Sunil Noronha. Hence, the parents of the boys who are studying in the junior section were the chief invitees. The programme began with the prayer and welcome dance who invoked God’s blessing on the school and on the programme. The programme "In Poem Town" by Class Prep took us back in time to our first school days. The Digital Presentation prepared by Aman Khetrapal of IT Association received a big applause as it not only informed about SJC but also entertained the spectators. The students of class 1 came out with a loud message that there is a need to reduce the gap between haves and have nots. They said "It is not the situation, but our response to the situation that counts." The boys of Class 2 through their ballet "Global Symphony" brought out the woundedness of the world and focused on the need to "Heal the world and make it a better place for you and for me."The boys of Class 3 displayed the traditional German folk tale "Snow White" and transported the audience into the land of magic. The class 5 boys through their ballet invited the guests to allow the child within to grow and blossom. The boys of Class 1 to 5 left the audience spellbound and made the audience tap their legs to the tune of music and gave the message of unity in diversity when they performed bangra, dandia and bangla dances depicting various cultures of our country. The tableau "Semper Sursum" enlightened the viewers about SJC and its history coming down through the ages. The chief guest gave away the prizes to the meritorious students.

Earlier the Principal Fr. Louis Mascarenhas accorded a hearty welcome to all the parents and distinguished guests present there. The Right Reverend Isidore Fernandes the bishop of the Catholic diocese of Allahabad in his message thanked all the principals who have brought this institution to what it is today. He also expressed gratitude to all those parents who have contributed to the growth of the college. Anhad Narayan and Syed Raza Haider beautifully anchored the entire programme and Raghuvansh Mishra the College Head Marshal proposed vote of thanks.

The hall was packed with the parents. The students were very happy to see their ex-principals and head masters. The principals of neighbouring colleges and other dignitaries from the city too were present for the programme. The parents went back with the message that they are invited to "Build humanity, build nation"
